La pandemia de COVID-19 puso a la vista las fallas sistémicas de nuestra infraestructura de atención médica, laboral, económica y de seguridad pública. Nuestras comunidades no tenían seguro, estaban mal pagadas y estaban demasiado vigiladas mucho antes de que estallara la crisis.

A medida que se descubren las fallas de estos sistemas, tenemos la oportunidad y la responsabilidad de luchar por una visión de un mundo donde los más vulnerables no se queden excluidos, sino que también se les dé la oportunidad de vivir una vida digna y respetuosa.

El Proyecto de Apoyo a la Familia de Inmigrantes COVID-19 es solo una vía para responder a las necesidades de nuestras comunidades.

La Coalición de Illinois para los Derechos de Inmigrantes y Refugiados, en colaboración con el Departamento de Servicios Humanos de Illinois y la Colaboración de Financiadores de Inmigración de Illinois, brindará asistencia directa a las familias que han sido afectadas por la pandemia COVID-19 y sus consecuencias económicas. El ICIRR y el IDHS trabajarán con los Centros de Bienvenida de Illinois (IWC), el Programa de Recursos Familiares de Inmigrantes (IFRP) y la Iniciativa de Nuevos Americanos (NAI) se asocian con los contratos actuales para ofrecer este programa tan necesario.

A través de esta asociación, ICIRR busca servir a una de las poblaciones más desatendidas a través de esta crisis: los inmigrantes de bajos ingresos que viven en Illinois, han visto una reducción en sus ingresos debido a Covid-19 y que no son elegibles para el estímulo federal paquete, seguro de desempleo o beneficios públicos.

How do I know if I am eligible to receive these funds?

Who are the selected community-based organizations that can assist in submitting my application?


Our trusted partner organizations have existing contracts with IDHS/ICIRR through the New Americans Initiative, Immigrant Family Resource Program or are part of the Illinois Welcoming Centers. As such, they already provide immigration services and have the expertise and experience to assist immigrants with wrap-around support, including direct services or referrals to legal, social, health, and mental health resources. How much money will I receive?


Applicants whose application is approved will receive a one-time $1,000 grant. Funds will be awarded based on the completion and accuracy of application submission, economic need, and is dependent on the availability of funds.




When will I know if my application has been accepted or denied?


Applicants will be notified by the organization who submitted their application on their (applicant) behalf within 30 days. However, we hope to have applications approved as quickly as possible.




Can I apply more than once?


No, this is a one-time $1,000 grant per household. We are prioritizing families that have not received any other emergency funds from other sources to be able to extend the reach of assistance.




What if my application is denied?


If your application has been denied, please contact the organization that submitted your application to get the reason for denial.




How will I receive the funds?


Funds will be distributed to you (applicant) by the community-based organization that submitted your application. Details on the form of payment will be provided to the approved applicants.




How long will it take to receive my funds if my application is approved?


Once you have been notified of approval, you can expect the funds to be distributed within 30 days. We will work to approve funds as quickly as possible.




Is my information confidential?


Yes. The information you provide on the application will not be shared outside of ICIRR and the community-based organization that assisted you in applying.

Will receiving these funds affect me in regards to Public Charge?


No, Applying and receiving these services is not part of Public Charge. The project is funded by state and private funding both are exempt from the public charge rule.
