ICIRR Organizational Membership

Background

The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights is a membership-led, power-building organization. ICIRR’s membership model is organization-based and works to ensure accountability, decision-making and ownership from ICIRR’s member organizations. Our power comes from the collective strength of organizations throughout Illinois that share ICIRR’s mission and vision. We build power and exercise it collectively through our member organizations to advance the change our members envision for their communities. Together, our Coalition works to win campaigns and policies that ensure a more equitable society rooted in dignity and respect for all.

ICIRR members become stakeholders and empowered decision-makers in the development and execution of our yearly local, state, and federal advocacy agenda. Members have voting power on our yearly platform, organizational calendar, and at-large strategy and policy decisions. They participate in ICIRR’s policy platform development process, shape our collective priorities, and help execute our organizing and power-building strategy. Members have access to comprehensive support through capacity building, training, and technical assistance. For more background on our mission and vision, membership criteria, and principles, please make sure to read our complete ICIRR Organizational Membership Protocols.
