ICIRR's statement regarding Chicago City Council's vote on emergency appropriations for new arrivals

Statement from ICIRR executive director Lawrence Benito on today's Chicago City Council votes:

We commend the Chicago City Council for doing the right thing by passing the appropriation for new arrivals, in addition to approving the bond ordinance that will support many of the issues our members and allies care deeply about, including housing investments for the long-term. ICIRR remains committed to welcoming new arrivals with dignity and respect, providing necessary case management across Chicago and Illinois, and supporting efforts to advance a system that cares for all vulnerable communities.

ICIRR is dedicated to promoting the rights of immigrants and refugees to full and equal participation in the civic, cultural, social, and political life of our diverse society.
