In response to President Biden's "Build Back Better" plan announced earlier today, the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights issued the following statement:

"Over the course of the pandemic, millions of undocumented essential workers put their lives on the front lines. That work will continue throughout the recovery. Undocumented essential workers, immigrant youth, TPS holders, and their families need a path to citizenship now, but the Build Back Better recovery package announced earlier today leaves our communities out.

"Our demand to President Biden, Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Schumer, and Senators Durbin and Duckworth: include a pathway to citizenship for undocumented essential workers, immigrant youth, TPS holders, and their families in the Build Back Better economic recovery package immediately. We have waited long enough. A full recovery means all of us, no exceptions."
