ICIRR Holds Legislative Briefing on Public Charge and its Implications

On August 23, 2018 the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights held a legislative briefing on public charge at The Shriver Center in Chicago as part of PIF IL. This successful event educated legislators on what public charge is and highlighted the dire implications if the Trump administration proceeds with its plan to expand it. Legislators in attendance included State Representative Lisa Hernandez , State Representative Celina Villanueva, State Representative Delia Ramirez, State Representative Theresa Mah, and State Senator Martin Sandoval.  Also in attendance were from staff from the offices of State Senator Heather Steans, State Representative Kelly Cassidy, and State Representative Omar Aquino.
