ICIRR and its members joined over 100 people for a Responsible Budget Coalition rally at the Thompson Center on March 27th to call for a Fair Tax in Illinois.  Executive Director of Arab American Family Services represented ICIRR at the podium and called on the General Assembly to pass a fair and progressive income tax.  The Fair Tax endorsed by ICIRR would see 90% of Illinois families receive a tax break and would relieve burdens placed on the middle class by making the wealthy pay their fair share.  It would change the uncertain nature of our state's budget by creating new revenue to fund vital human services, such as the Immigrant Services Line Item.
