Amanda Varela is the Western Suburban Organizer at ICIRR. In her role, she works to engage community leaders of the near western Chicago suburbs primarily around access to healthcare.
Amanda is originally from southern California and is the daughter of Salvadoran immigrants. She received her Bachelors degree in English and Sociology from the University of Notre Dame in 2015. Since graduating, she has worked with migrant farmworkers in rural Missouri, organized on Chicago’s southeast side, and is now organizing in the Western suburbs of Chicago.
