Luvia has been at ICIRR since 2005 working in the New Americans Initiative (NAI). She began when NAI was about to have its firsts citizenship workshops and has worked closely with the 35 partners of the program to implement a successful citizenship campaign reaching over 265,000 individuals. Luvia has worked at various levels in community organizations since 2003 as an undergraduate student and as an intern. She has volunteered at several organizations as a tutor, teacher, and service learning coordinator of a language exchange program for DePaul University. She is one of the co-chairs of the Alliance of Latinos and Jews and an active member in her parish, St. Sylvester, for the last 18 years. She has a B.A. from DePaul University and majored in International Studies with a concentration in Latin America. She is the daughter of Mexican immigrants from Durango, Mexico.
